Hetchins
A Heritage of Excellence
Hetchins, the brand that has been known to bicycle aficionados worldwide for over 60 years. From the beginning, Hyman “Harry” Hetchin* determined to be different and attract the elite of the cycle buying public. Originally in London, later moving to Southend-on-Sea, Hetchins bicycles have become one of the most collectible marques. A formal owners’ Register exists under the auspices of the Veteran Cycle Club and many of the original sales records are catalogued.
(*Hyman and Alf Hetchin had no “s” in their name. As can be seen in older photos, a possessive apostrophe was once used in the trademark “Hetchin’s” when painted on the shop and the bikes, but it was dropped at some point and the business name became, effectively, “Hetchins” without the apostrophe.
