Mirella brand name was chosen simply because the company owner, Signor Rinaldi, liked the name Mirella.
Mirella bicycles were produced by the Italian company Officine Meccaniche Leri (LERI), founded by Giovanni Rinaldi in 1898. In 1923, Giovanni’s son Leopoldo established the “Leri” and “Mirella” brand names.
While a common story in the cycling community is that “Mirella” was the name of the owner’s daughter, this is not true; the name was simply a personal preference of one of the owners. The name itself is of Italian origin, meaning “wonderful” or “worthy of admiration”.
