Founded by William Chater-Lea in London in 1890, Chater-Lea was a bicycle, motorcycle & automobile manufacturer. In bicycles, it was the most prestigious (and expensive!) maker of British cycling components, 1928 through 1950’s at Letchworth, Hertfordshire.
